There are regular patrols as well as intelligence-gathering, owing to incursions by Mai Mai militia groups on the lake, which was once the home of the largest hippopotamus population in the world. The beauty of nature \u2013 winner \u2013 Green Light Forest. A mountain path through a forest is illuminated by a multitude of \u201csparkling\u201d fireflies, giving the landscape an almost fairytale atmosphere. The insects\u2019 bioluminescence is part of the mating ritual, at the end of which the eggs are laid. Under 20 \u2013 winner \u2013 Buzzard at Dusk. \u201cI was out photographing the sunset when I noticed the clouds were beginning to become really atmospheric and moody. A buzzard was originally on a post but it saw me and flew off into a tree. A camera trap placed inside a large muskox carcass was used to take this shot of a pack of 10 wolves, the members of which returned to feed for more than a month. Here he is pictured in Hatay province, Turkey, with his son Mustafa, who was born without lower or upper limbs because of tetra-amelia syndrome, which was caused by the medications his mother, Zeynep, had to take after nerve gas attack during the war. The beauty of nature \u2013 honourable mention \u2013 Droopy Eyes. \u201cDuring lockdown, I was fortunate enough to be in a game reserve and was staying in a house close to a small ravine. I noticed that there was a lot of movement and tracks towards a water source in this ravine. I set up a camera with a few light sources in and among a lot of ruby gnidia flowers that had just come up after the first rains of the season. Also, the ravine was filled with old dry leaves, so it created quite a nice diverse frame with the colour\u201d. Makgokolo game reserve, South Africa.
